Mohammedan Sporting are yet to win an away tie in the ongoing season.

Churchill Brothers FC will clash with Mohammedan Sporting Club in search of their first win of the season in the I- League 2022-23 at Tilak Maidan, Vasco-Goa on Tuesday evening.

The Red Machines have managed to grab just two points from their first five matches. With a disappointing start to the season, the Goan side has lost to Rajasthan United FC, Sreenidi Deccan FC and Real Kashmir FC. While their two points came from a 1-1 draw against Mumbai Kenkre FC and Aizawl FC.

“Mohammedan are a very strong opponent. We have not done well in our last matches but are working hard on the training ground and hopefully, we will see the results tomorrow.” In the absence of their head coach Antonio Rueda, assistant coach Mateus Costa said at the pre-match press conference.

Costa is confident ahead of their home tie against Mohammedan as he said “In football, wins and losses are a part of the game. Every team focuses on going out for the three points and we’re no exceptions,” He further added saying “If we look at our last few matches, we have conceded silly goals. We are working on it and I expect our defence to get better in the next matches.”

The visitors also did not make a great start to the season as they suffered back-to-back defeats in their first two away outings against Gokulam Kerala and RoundGlass Punjab. However, they managed to earn full points in their home ties against NEROCA FC and TRAU FC in their next two fixtures but once again went down to Sreenidi Deccan in their last match at Deccan Arena in Hyderabad.

"We haven’t gotten any points in our away matches. We have been looking for areas to improve and are working on them. We have confidence and we are prepared for tomorrow. It’s going to be a crucial game for both teams.” Mohammedan Sporting assistant coach Joseph Naik said.

The Black Panthers host Mumbai Kenkre FC and Real Kashmir following their outings in Goa on Tuesday and the assistant coach believe that the full points against the Western Coastal side will boost their confidence in the next two home ties.

“The three points tomorrow are very crucial. It will boost our confidence and after tomorrow, we have two home games, so we want to carry good momentum forward,” Naik elucidated the importance of a positive result against Churchill Brothers.
