The Head coach Norberto Gonsalves names 42 probables for the Goa Santosh Trophy team

Mario Soares has been appointed as assistant coach for the team Goa in the Senior National Championship 2022-23.

The newly appointed Goa Santosh Trophy team head coach Norberto Gonsalves has named his 43 probable for the upcoming Senior National Football Championship to be held in Kokrajhar, Assam from 28th December 2022.

“We have selected the players based on their performance in the first two rounds of the Goa Professional League. There is very less time remaining for preparatory camp but we will not compromise on the quality of the players during the selection process.” The head coach Gonsalves informed the-kickoff.com exclusively.

The gaffer has named 43 players for the camp which will start from tomorrow (17th December) to 24th December at GMC Athletic Stadium, Bambolim. Out of 42 players, 40 will be shortlisted for the camp and further alteration will see the best 22 making it into the final list.

“We have selected the best players from all the GPL clubs which will go through a process where we will make sure the best 22 is selected to travel to Assam. As far as I have seen the matches, the players which we have called for the selection are in good shape and form. It will be very tough for us to shortlist from the list” the head coach stated.

The Goa Football Association has also named I-League outfits Churchill Brothers FC’s assistant coach Mario Soares as assistant to Gonsalves. “Mario has previously worked under me when I was with Salgaocar FC and also at Churchill Brothers. So he knows me very well and that will help me to work smoothly with the team.” The former Churchill Brothers coach confirmed the appointment of the assistant coach.

The following players had been called for the camp at Athletic Stadium Bambolim on 17th December at 3:00 PM.

Sporting Clube de Goa: Ozen Silva, Liston Cardozo, Nickson Castanha, Clive Miranda, Alton Vaz, Velito Cruz, Lloyd Cardozo, Ivan Costa and Stendly Fernandes.

FC Goa: Hansel Coelho, Mallikjan Kalegar, Rayan Roger Menezes, Manushawn Fernandes, Deeshank Kunkalkar, Aditya Salgaonkar, Rayan Menezes and Vasim Inamdar.

Dempo SC: Savio Pereira, Klusner Pereira, Brian Faria, Sallum Pires, Suraj Hadkonkar and Kirtikesh Gadekar
